Lloyd James O'Malley, born in Toronto October 8, 1928.Spent his early childhood in Ottawa before returning to Toronto to attend St. Michael's College, where he excelled at hockey and football. Son of John James O’Malley of Renfrew County, and Hazel O’Malley (Lemieux) of West Quebec. Lloyd married Carmel Rita (nee Seeley), his loving wife of70 years, in Toronto in 1948.She predeceased Lloyd in 2018.

He was a loving father to his son Peter O'Malley (spouse:Frances Brown); daughter Donna O'Malley (Craig Brockway); and granddaughter Kady O'Malley.
Lloyd’s business career was spent in the Canadian food industry working for several large food corporations before starting the O'Malley Candy Company in 1972. Lloyd operated the business successfully for over thirty years, retiring in 2007. He was an active member of the industry’s Knights of the Golden Pencil Award, and also served on the board of the Canadian Confectionery Manufacturers Association.

For many years he and Carmel were members of the Boulevard Club where he played tennis, and Carmel became an Ontario champion curler. At the Caledon Ski Club, they both skied well and enthusiastically. Lloyd was a longtime season ticket holder and lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and an ardent student of all things Napoleon.

Our deepest condolences to the O’Malley family on the death of their father Lloyd. My husband and I played tennis with both Carmel and Lloyd and enjoyed many great talks at the Second Cup in Toronto with them. They spoke often of their family and granddaughter. We also had the pleasure to meet and play tennis with Donna and Craig. We were also very sorry to hear about the death of Carmel as we were not aware of her passing. We have many fond memories of our time with both Lloyd and Carmel. Our sincere sympathy for your loss, Neil and Bud Jones, Etobicoke, Ontario

Many years ago, when I was working with Lloyd's son Peter on Parliament Hill, Peter brought his father to our office and introduced him to me. Lloyd was happy to chat with me and I enjoyed talking with him for some time. My condolences for a charming gentleman.
