January 10, 1931-January 13, 2021

Tom passed from this life to the next, quietly and comfortably, after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.

Tom was predeceased by his beloved first wife and mother of his children Doreen (nee Cavender) and his second wife Lynne (nee Gardner) Tom is survived by his children and grandchildren: Mike Nesbitt(Terena), and their son, Matthew, Kim Nesbitt and her children, Malcolm and Lila, Kelly Nesbitt (Jason) and Kerry McDonald (Ken) and their children, Thomas and Peter, Julie and Terry Gardner and their children, in the Isle of Man and his special friend, Helen Smith.

Tom will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of big band music and jive dancing, his zeal for history and his appreciation of the fairer sex. He was a pioneer in Information Technology, and a long time employee of Prudential Insurance in Toronto, as well as a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a Mason.

Remember Tom with as smile as he loved to make people laugh.

Special thanks to Dr. Lowe, the staff of Bonnechere Manor Henry Murdoch 1 North, Pinnacle N and their compassionate care of Tom. We would also like to remember the staff of Country Haven, Beachburg (and Christina) as well as Faye and Edmond Arsenault in Summerside, PEI, for all they did for Tom.

Interment of Tom's ashes will take place at a ceremony in Pembroke, Ontario and will take pace in the spring. Arrangements in the care of the Murphy Funeral Home & Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bonnechere Manor’s Butterfly project would be appreciated.

I will always cherish the memories of the high school parties in the basement of the Nesbitt household.

And always, at some point in the evening, Tom and Doreen would commandeer the stereo system and the dance floor and a lesson in jive dancing would follow. And, as the party continued into the wee hours after midnight, someone who looked suspiciously like Tom would usually be found struggling to stay awake amongst all the energetic teenagers. And, like typical teenagers, we would wait until he inevitably fell asleep sitting on the floor and then turn the speakers to face him and turn the volume of our ROCK MUSIC up LOUD as payback. A tribute to the man, he was there every time...always wanting to be in the middle of the action with a beer in his hand and a smile on his face.

I will miss him...

P.S....not sure how how he chose that nickname for me back at a time when I might have weighed 125lbs soaking wet
