Obituary

It is with immeasurable sadness that the family of June Kenny (Howard) announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, September 6, 2020, surrounded, as she so enjoyed, by the love of herchildren and best friend. Predeceased by her husband, Bryan, with whom she had shared 60 happy years. June would say that her greatest accomplishment was her 7 children: Paul (Cheryl), Brenda (Terry Miller), Stephen (Karen), Terry (Charlene), Karen (Ian Bromley), Paula (Jason Rolston), and Jane (Matt Chaput). Grannie/Nanny kept the candy bowl filled and the chip cupboard stocked for her grandchildren: Todd (Cheryl), Phillip (Amanda), Derek (Mandi), Jared (Trista), Bryana, Laura (Dustin Belaire), Emma, Brett, Olivia, Tara, Joanne (Henk Schuurman), Kaylee, Tyson (Alanna), Kade, Lexie, Bryn, and Ayla, and her 29 great-grandchildren. June was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Lorena Howard, her brother, Harry and grandson, Stephen. She was blessed with 3 very special “sisters” and best friends: Marilyn Robillard (Kenny), Kathy Brown (Kenny), and Eva Howard as well as a very special aunt, Helen Farrell. June enjoyed 40 plus years behind the counter of the family business, Kenny’s Store, which couldn’t have survived without her dedication. When she wasn’t at the store, June loved to fill her table or front veranda with family and friends. Friends are invited to share their memories of June with her family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke, on Thursday, September 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pembroke, on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. followed by cremation. DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS OF COVID-19 MANDATES, A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE PERMITTED IN THE FUNERAL HOME AND CHURCH AT ANY GIVEN TIME - FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND VISITATION AND THE FUNERAL MASS .Please feel free to bring your own face mask or one will be supplied to you at the Funeral Home. (Please call the funeral home at 613-735-5711 if you wish to attend the visitation or Funeral. An appointment time will be arranged). As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Our sincerest condolences to all the family in your time of sorrow. June was a wonderful lady, a great asset to the Westmeath community, making everyone feel welcome with her friendly greeting on entering Kenny's store, and spending time to have a talk.
She will be missed.

I have nothing but fun memories of being part of the "Kenny clan", even if I was a Howard. I always felt so cared for by both Auntie June and Uncle Bryan. My best memories involved big celebrations, the store, Aunt June's laugh and how she was teased and just loved it. I hope someone will understand this but the way she called me Kim still is in my ears, I won't forget it. She always asked as soon as we would step into the house if we needed anything. She would send for the bags of chips making sure we got the one's we liked while Uncle Bryan would make the biggest ice cream cones for whoever wanted one. When I say she was Westmeath I mean she was the best part of the town. Where else could you go and "get a tab" and be trusted, if she knew you had troubles she would listen, she still sent me cards with money in it even as an adult. I was always in awe of how she could remember names and dates of B.D's. and treat each child as special. I was the quiet kid but talking to her was easy she always spoke to me as an equal not a "kid". I have cried several times as the loss of Aunt June really affected my family, I just always thought she would be there to visit. I love my cousins and know next time I am in town they will treat me the same as Aunt June and Uncle Bryan did, welcomed, never a burden and with love.
