Obituary

Peacefully at Miramichi Lodge, with her family at her side on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Fernande Jacqueline Noël (nee Gratton) of Pembroke, beloved wife of the late J.A.G. “Jerry” Noël. Loved and cherished mother of Francine Green (Wade) of Petawawa and Pierre Noël (Penny), of Pembroke. Dear grandmother to Jeremy Green (Patricia) of Uxbridge, Gillian Freelandt (Andrew), Sudbury, Kevin Green (Alexandra), Carleton Place, Nicolas and Michael Noël, Pembroke and great grandmother to Maxwell, Edwin and Leah. Predeceased by her sister Pauline Heywood (late Harvey), North Carolina and her brother Pierre Gratton (Chantal), Montreal.
Fern was born in Ottawa, lived in nearby Plantagenet and later attended l’Université D’Ottawa. She moved to Pembroke with Jerry in 1954. Fern and Jerry were happily involved in many aspects of the community they both loved through Welch and Company, the church and various service groups and organizations they belonged to over the years. Fern’s sociable nature and sense of fun enabled her to make many friends in Pembroke where she enjoyed playing tennis, skiing and cottaging on the Ottawa River at Fort William. Most of all she was there without fail for her family.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Père Michael Smith on Friday, January 31st at Église St. Jean Baptiste, Pembroke. Spring Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa. In memory of Fern, donations may be made to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.
Heartfelt thanks are conveyed to the special people at Miramichi Lodge, Marianhill, and the Pembroke Regional Hospital for the compassionate care Fern received during this past year. Special thanks to Père Smith, the choir and organist at Église St. Jean Baptiste. Arrangements in care of the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Pembroke.

Dear Francine and Pierre, sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I still recall her teaching me tennis on the street in front of the house on Broadview. She was quite the lady, well before her time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Fern’s family
My most sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear Mother, Many years have passed since I have spoken to your mom, I often wondered where she was Both she and Jerry knew my family ... went to the same Church ... but I was always made to feel “Very Special” by both of them. Fern and I both shared the gift to gab, never at a loss of words, and she ALWAYS ALWAYS spoke nicely of people. You knew when someone did not please her, as her big eyes let you know her feelings on the matter. It was a sad day when your father Jerry passed away and I remember Fern’s sadness in loosing him, they were a great couple. You must all be experiencing that same pain of loss, all over again. Remembering her laugh and smile will help see you through this difficult time.

Regards
Simone (Allard) Kaminski Recoskie
