Passed away in his sleep, attended by his loving wife Carol on December 26th, 2019 at 67 years of age.
Born September 19th, 1952 into a then large and ever-growing family, Grant grew up in Pembroke Ontario along-side his 10 brothers and sisters.
As a hard-working and studious young man, Grant attended the University of Waterloo for Mathematics following which he became a teacher (Pembroke HS) and programmer (AECL), before landing at Raytheon for 25 years as the Manager of Software Development.
A lover of music, hockey, westerns, swimming, and above all his family, Grant will always be remembered for his big laugh (loud), warm smile (gold tooth), and tight hugs (very tight).
Grant was preceded in death by his father John Klawitter, sister Nancy Rasewych, and granddaughter Honora.
Grant will be missed by his wife Carol (nee Shand), his sons Russell and Nicholas and his wife Angela, his grandchildren Cole, Wesley and Helena, his mother Hilda(nee Keller), and siblings Helen Brszyenski, Ruth Jonston, Ken Klawitter, Irene Kennedy, Joan Schimmens, his twin brother Gary Klawitter, Emma Rabishaw, Brian Klawitter, and Donna Hiderman.

My sincerest condolences to Carol and family. Grant was my boss at Raytheon for many years but I came to see him as a teacher, a mentor and my friend. Not only do I remember spending many many hours working with Grant, I remember spending time at breaks, lunches and the occasional “ beer and wings”. We would talk about work, hockey, movies, occasionally music but also about family.

I remember Grant spoke of a lot of fond memories of a trip he and Carol took to the US southwest, he would also talk of the boys, Russ and Nick, and then of his then new daughter-in-law Angela and finally the arrival of his grand babies. He was a very proud Grandpa with pictures and stories. I have to admit, sometimes at work, when I had bad news to deliver, I would always start our conversation by asking about the grandkids. This would always put him in a good mood and would seem to ease our work troubles. Although we would try to keep the mood at work as light as we could, this also reminded me how important family was to each of us.

I am deeply sorry for your loss, Grant will be missed.

I must admit that I hate reading the back page of the KW Record. Hard to believe it was over 45 years ago that Grant and I graduated from Champlain after PCI. Grant was an important part of my Waterloo Math life but must admit we lost contact fairly quickly as we both established ourselves with our effective others.
Heartfelt condolences. Will remember Grant fondly.
