We are sad to hear of John's passing - we knew him through our time in Espanola as a work colleague and neighbour for many years. We always enjoyed John's sense of humour and kindness towards us and our children. Sincere sympathy to the family.

I was saddened to read this obituary today. My friendship began with John Sammon in 1952 when we started school together at Holy Name, in west end Pembroke. John and his family moved out of the parish in the mid fifties, but we remained friends, and reunited again at St. Columba's Boys' School in 1960, when we started high school. I didn't know that John was back in the area or I certainly would have made it a point to get together with him. He was friendly and easy going and loved to laugh. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
