Suddenly at the Ottawa Hospital-Civic Campus, surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday July 25, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Doug Horne of Pembroke, beloved husband of 66 years to Doreen Horne (nee Hawkins). Loved father to Bentley Horne (Nancy), Pembroke and Jennifer Blondin (Glenn), Belleville, Illinois. Loving Papa to Ian and Evan. Dear brother of Carole Rondeau (Paul), Niagara-on-the-Lake and Fred Horne (Brenda), North Bay. Predeceased by his brothers Clarence Horne (late Cecile), Robert Horne (late Margaret), William Horne and his sister Lillian Cooke (late Forrest). Son of the late William and Laura (nee Doucette) Horne. Doug will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sitwell and nurses Alyssa and Cindy of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, the responding Paramedics as well as to Const. D. Sullivan of the OPP. Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Wednesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Thursday after 10:00 a.m. A Service to celebrate Doug’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 1st in the Chapel of the Murphy Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. followed by cremation. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lower Stafford at a later date. In memory of Doug, donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated.
