On December 28, 2018, John Angus Heaps passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 48 years to Anne (nee Price) Heaps. Proud father of Richard (Tanya), James (Crystal) and Patrick (Tanya). Loving grandfather of Jaclyn, Nolan, Robyn and Griffin. John was the eldest son of the late James Joseph and Mary Catherine (nee MacNeil) Heaps and was predeceased by his sister Helen. Dear brother to Alan (Denise) and Michael (Carolyne). John will also be missed by many cousins, brothers & sisters in-law, nephews and nieces.
John was known by all for his infectious smile and his great sense of humour making each day enjoyable for those around him. He lived life with his family sharing many memorable experiences through multiple road trips across Canada enjoying our great Country and never taking for granted the beauty and opportunity of each day through his quick walk, dedication to his wife and family, and enjoyment of a good conversation.
John was very active with his sons, having coached soccer, being a leader for Cubs and Scouts, and was involved in various club management and fund-raising events. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and participated in many of their charitable activities. John had a very fulfilling 40-year career with Domtar having made many great friends along the way.
We will always be grateful to the kind and compassionate staff of Miramichi Lodge for the care they provided to John over the past two years; your care provided joy, dignity, family support, and daily happiness to John.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Petawawa, on January 3, 2019, at 11:00am. Spring interment will take place at Rideau Memorial Gardens, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec.
