The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Melba Armstrong can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Melba's warmth and talent

I remember Melba (known to me and her late husband, John Armstrong, as Bobbie) particularly for the pride she took in her carefully-tended garden in Manotick.  It was immaculate and colourful, reflecting her visual interests and talent for painting.  I visited her in her house on the river often with my son Jonathan (her grandson) until he left for Calgary twenty years ago, and after that I went there on my own.  We were always warmly welcomed and looked after.  This reflected her warm personality and family feeling.  Regrettably, I was able to visit her only a few times after she moved back to Pembroke.

Robert Gould, husband of the late Jill Armstrong, step-daughter of Melba
