When A Death Occurs Away From Home

What to do First
Contact our funeral home first, day or night. We are available to serve you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When funeral arrangements must unexpectedly be made away from home, and family hearts are filled with mixed emotions, it is difficult to consider costs. Sometimes without thinking, decisions are made in far away places that result in unnecessary expenses. To avoid the risk of this, the best practice is to contact us first and let us

coordinate with a funeral home in the area where the death has occurred. This will drastically reduce the risk of your family incurring unnecessary charges.

We take charge from then on and make all the arrangements for transporting the deceased to a local funeral home for embalming and preparation for return home. You only need to contact us with some basic information and call us when you return home for an arrangement conference.

International Travel
If a family member dies while traveling outside  of the Country, you should call us immediately when the death occurs abroad. We are well versed in the procedures for returning the deceased to Canada.

Conversely, if you are traveling in Canada, or living here but will be buried outside of Canada, we are familiar with the procedures for coordinating the shipping of mortal remains internationally for burial elsewhere. There is a great deal of paperwork involved, and you must expect that this will be a more time consuming situation. It is not as simple as coordinating a flight to another province in Canada. Please be prepared for this.
